Our driver/guide will pick you up at your centrally located Colombo hotel or at the entrance of the Dutch Hospital area in the centre of the Colombo. You will leave the city and drive for your first visit to the famous Kalaniya Buddhist Temple (Raja Maha Vihiare).
After this stop you will drive to Negombo along the coastal road and the canals built by the Dutch in the 17th century mainly for the transport of spices to the Colombo port.
From the original canal system only a small section is left. Later you visit the fishery harbour and its fish market and an old Dutch church in Negombo.
Negombo is the major beach resort on the coast north of Colombo close to the international airport. Long, palm-fringed, wide, sandy beaches invite for sea bathing.
With its many shops, restaurants and bars the centre of Negombo offers to the visitor many distractions. You can have lunch at your own cost in Negombo and/or enjoy a stay on the beach end return at your convenience the latest in the early evening on the high way to Colombo.
